Hi,

I bought a GS a couple of weeks back which turned up with a shutter that didn't open. Having got some advice through this forum I thought I'd tackle the job this morning and try to fix it. I stripped the lens down until I got to the shutter mechanism and played about a bit to see what goes where.

I'd been aware that the self timer lever was not at the correct resting place but had thought previously that this was due to the shutter locking up. After a bit of playing around I figured I'd push it back into place; first gently, then a bit harder. I don't like to force things if they don't want to shift but in this case a bit of a shove put the lever back in position and allowed the shutter to function properly.

So now it's off out into the big wide world to run a film or two through it. If I get around to processing the films tomight I might scan some and post the pictures.

I thought this might be of use to others with malfunctioning shutters.

All the best,
/Phil.
