Shutter speed range of R*A?

On manual, it's 1 to 1/2000th of course.
I can't seem to find any info on the range when you're using AE.

8s -> 1/2000s, as far as I remember (no longer have my R3A).

A listing by CameraQuest on eBay confirms 8s - 1/2000.

And I think from memory the camera doesn't necessarily select shutter speeds as designated on the dial ... ie 1/125 1/250 1/500 etc. I think it has a multiple of around six graduations between those settings?

I thought the AE was in 1/3 stop increments, but I could be wrong about that.
