Shutter vibration

Hi,

Just received an Ikon ZM and noticed that the vibration/thump from the shutter is substantial compared with the Leica MP I briefly had. The shutter release button is actually nicer to me than the MP, but I can feel a little camera shake from the shutter mech itself. Is this normal? If so, does it bother anyone else? I could never get a sharp picture from an SLR or DSLR at less than 125th but the with the MP I could get down to 15th or even 8th quite easily. Anyone else 'compared'. Thanks.

Can't really say I've noticed any vibration from the shutter on my ZI. Don't remember shooting at 1/8 sec, but have had no trouble getting sharp pictures at 1/15 sec.

Nothing to worry about; it only feels that way.

Look at Hasselblads. Lots of people have suggested that the incredible clunk these things make is bound to shake the camera and ruin photos. Several people have shot video with a penny balanced, on edge, on the lens - and fired the shutter. The penny, naturally, did not move. And this without MLU.

On the other hand, David Plowden says that he couldn't get a sharp image from his Hasselblad system until he took Marty Forscher's advice to trigger the mirror first, wait a few seconds, and then fire the shutter.

Thanks to all. I just got the first roll back and it all looks ok down to 1/15th, so I guess it's fine! Not so hot at 1/4 but that may be the shooter.
Never shot Reala before though - grass is very yucky coloured. Blacks and blown highlights are fine though. 😉
