Sigma had this incredible lens on display at PMA. However at $34,000 you have to wonder how many they will sell. So far as I know, it is the fastest production 500mm lens ever offered for sale, and a zoom on top of that! Quite an optical achievement!

As it color and upper handle insinuate, this lens may be intended to be sold to military forces of any kind.

provided i could mount it on my monopod, i'd really like to try it for field sports. a full stop faster and 100mm more reach than nikon's 200-400/4.

hmm... the greater achievement is that the wimberly head supports it.... i dunno many tripods that will support 34lb!
