Did you buy it in Oz Peter? I couldn't find one in SA (Sigma) mount anywhere in Oz and finished up buying it from a Korean ebay seller, used but as new.
Here's a link to an interesting interview with the "constructor" of the Sigma 35/1.4 and the 18-35/1.8 . No mention of the dude's name. Perhaps the epitome of modest team spirit at Sigma? Or just a fluke omission by the journalist?
Another pic from the 35mm f1.4 ... I have the 50mm f1.4 (older lens) which is a 'nice' lens but this 35mm Art blows it away. Can't emphasise how much I like this lens. 🙂
It's a wonderful lens and one I use quite a bot for weddings...along with the Sigma 85. They make for a wonderful couple.
I can't wait for them to release the Art 50. I hear a stabilized 135/1.8 is in the works as well. Hopefully there will be an Art 24 in the near future too.
I was just reading some stuff from a link Gary PMd to me about the new 50 Art ^ ... it's going to be a very good optic I suspect.
In spite of the size I think I may order the 18-35 f1.8 some time in the next few days ... I'm a bit bit worried about doubling up on a focal length with my current 35mm f1.4 though.
I still don't own a fast Canon 35 or 50. I have the 24 L II and the 85 L II and was put off b the 50 1.2L's focus shift and the age and CA of the 35 L
The wonderful thing about these Sigma primes is that they do not zoom... so there is no problem with the zoom going the opposite direction of the Canon lenses. I'm tired of waiting for Canon to replace the 35 L and will likely jump on both the 35 and coming 50mm from Sigma as the new Canon will likely be horrendously expensive, like the 24-70 II.
