First review that did a good job of showing dp2m can actually do well to 800 and acceptable to 1600.
Left side is jpg and right side are the raws at each ISO level. Jpg looks good till around 400 and looks like crap at 800. But the raw side still looks good at 800 and starts to look bad at 1600 but still acceptable. Bad jpg implementation for iso noise reduction.....

On my old sigma DSLRs, even Iso 400 was unusuable (I always shot RAW, as any sigma user should). Looks like they've really turned a corner with the merrill sensor. I can see myself getting one of these sooner or later...
