Silent Mode on X-E1

Why is there an option called 'Silent Mode' when the sound is no different than regular mode? I can't find an answer to this anywhere. Any Fuji techs out there?

hold down the display button, this turns on silent mode..no beeps, no flash mode from camera.
press display and hold again to to turn off.

in the menu system you can turn off operational noise but keep flash on.
