silkypix ?

so i finally tried silkypix for my fuji raw files...first go at it and the software tells me it can't read the fuji files! hhmmm...

so i load what looks like a more recent version...version 4...but it's a on trial and they want me to pay for it eventually...seems odd that fuji would pack software that does not work on it's files...what am i doing wrong?
anyone know?

also...can i just open a raw file on silkypix and export it to my pse?
if so...can someone walk me through it as i can't seem to figure it out on my own...

From your description, I reckon that you might have downloaded Silkypix Developer rather than Raw File Converter EX. It looks almost identical, but there are differences.

If my guess is correct, then I suggest that you go:

to download the latest Raw File Converter. It DOES open X-E1 files - I've just tested it (Windows version). What's more, it's FREE!😎

If you're on Windows, you might have some difficulty installing this update over the original... let me know if you do, and I'll happily talk you through it.

As far as I'm aware, there's no way to export directly from Raw File Converter to another editor... you will have to save as a TIF or Jpeg, and then load into your editor (obviously, I'll stand corrected if someone on the forum can come up with a way to export directly).

Tried this today...learning curve, but shouldn't be too difficult. Export to TIFF, add to Aperture library.

Not bad...although looking forward to what AccuRAW can do; hopefully it has a nice UI.

Not game to switch to Capture One or Lightroom.

I can sympathise to a large degree. Although the output from Silkypix/Raw File Converter can be decent(ish), the UI is still rather tedious, and not very intuitive. On that basis alone, you're probably better off staying with your tried-and-trusted editor.🙂

Y, that is my plan too. Just learn Silky well enough to do simple RAW adjustments, then output to 16 bit TIFF for other edits.
