Guys, sorry for a stupid question: how will silver Summilux 50/1.4 pre-asph (46mm version) will look like on the black M7? Will it look odd, or it does not really matter..?

Hm, I have a silver 24-85USM for my black Canon D60. From my usual position to the camera I can't see it and the people I shoot don't seem to care 🙂

Nah... that's going to look aweful! Dump the lens..., better yet, let me dump it for you.

It is a matter of taste, what do you think?

I mounted my silver 28 Ultron on my new black Bessa T, it didn't look bad. The viewfinder is silver too, but the hood is black, so maybe that helps.

If black lenses look good on a chrome M, then chrome/silver lenses will look good on a black M! Besides, it dosn't matter what the camera looks like, its the photos that counts.

It really depends on whether you like it. It will not affect the photos.

My personal opinion is that black lenses look good on both chrome and black bodies, but best on black bodies.

I think chrome lenses look great on chrome bodies, but not on black bodies. Having said that, If I already had a chrome lens I would put it on a black body.

I have a 50 DR cron which is chrome that I use on my black M5 with no qualms.

Best,

Ray

So you didn't take Ray's 43mm lens Alex? I wouldn't fret about a silver lens on a black body, some people worry about that stuff but most don't I think. I have silver bodies and a mixture of silver and black lenses. They all work well! 😉

Not that bad, no?

I use the same combo. Neither lens nor body seem to mind. Thank goodness the film is very tolerant. Same is true for my big white Canon lens on a black & chrome body.

Very nice Rover. I use my chrome J-8 on my black R2a and have always liked the look of it, even without the black lens hood. But yours looks even better - I think for me it's the texture of the hood that really helps.

The reason most folks opt not for silver is not for cosmetic reasons, but because they're so damn heavy (compared to black) and the DOF scales are a bit more convenient to read on the black lenses (yellow and white on black). Yes, a silver lens on a black body does look a little odd, but looks are not that impratant. That's just image stuff, and the only image we should care about is on the print.
