I don't know if it's just me but I am having a lot of problems with Silverfast Ai Studio. The programme is very unstable and crashes on a fairly regular basis. I have almost lost count of the number of times I have deleted prefs/imaging folder etc. to get up and running again. At this stage I:bang: almost know the Silverfast Support Team as close friends!
The latest problem has been the straightening tool for negs. I inadvertantly moved a neg and it threw the whole programme out of gear, giving a black top half to a cropped lower half image???
As I do most of my digital adjustments in Photoshop I am beginning to wonder why I laid out so much on this programme.
Has anybody else experienced similar (or different) problems?

Smiler,
Silverfast Ai Studio has never been stable for me too. Randomly rashes a lot and preference files become corrupted! I use OS X. If it was a stable program, it would be a great program as it allows you to fine tune a lot of variables during scanning but alas...

Thanks MF I have re-installed a couple of times before only to encounter another problem later on. I now have the latest problem fixed, but find myself getting very frustrated with the programme. It usually breaks down just when I need it most (but then that could be the story of my life...)

Hi Smiler,
How much RAM (Memory) have you got installed and how big files are? I had crashing problems with earlier versions of SF when I had 1.5Gb of RAM and tried to scan 6x9 at 4800dpi. When I've installed an additional memory stick (for the different reason - I didn't know it's going to help me with SF) the problem has gone.
Also, if you're reinstalling SF you have to manually delete C: \ Documents and Settings \ (your username) \ Application Data \ Lasersoft Imaging folder before fresh installation. Otherwise, you'll bring all user's settings and configuration problems back to new installation

Thanks for the thoughts. I'm running a Mac G5 under OSX with 2.5 Gb of ram and in previous re-installs I have deleted every Lasersoft/Silverfast folder and file, which did clear everything for a new install, but I encountered several other problems at a later date. I just think that the programme is basically unstable.
