Finally bought some new scanning software for my Nikon coolscan V, had been using an older pc to run the Nikon software then moving the files to my mac for editing but it was becoming too much of a hassle. Tried Vuescan demo first and the scan quality seemed pretty good but the user interface (in my opinion) is horrible so decided to try silverfast thought I would have to buy plus or ai but after trying se seemed pretty good and cheap!
So my scanner is back where it should be attached to my mac! for how long who knows but I do have a few spare parts left over from the last time I fixed it.

I use silverfast Se with my V700 because that's what came with it but i used Vuescan with my coolscan 8000 when I had it.
I followed chirs crawford's blog on how to get the most out of the coolscan with vuescan. worked well for the time I had it.

Been using Silverfast SE with my Plustek 8100, same reason than BLKRCAT, it came with my scanner. No issues at all. Get pretty consistent results.
Tried Vuescan. Result where good, but didn't liked user interface, so moved back to Silverfast SE. Mostly because I feel Silverfast interface made more sense.
Best regards
