Anyone here using SilverFast AI Studio with CoolScan 9000 on MAC?
Anyone here using SilverFast AI Studio with CoolScan 9000 on MAC?
I was just wondering if anyone here is using SilverFast AI Studio, VueScan or Nikon Scanware 4.0.2 to successfully run a Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 on a Mac OS 10.4.11 (Tiger) witha Intel MacPro platform?
I had heard that there were issues with Nikon Scanware 4.0.2 on Intel Macs.

I can't comment on issues with Nikon scanners, but I have used both Silverfast (AI- full version) and Vuescan (demo) with my Mac, and far prefer Silverfast. I have never found a scanning program that had anything like a decent user interface, and Silverfast is certainly a complex program which requires some serious preparation (study of the manuals, set-up, and experimentation) to get comfortable with, but once you have some understanding of the program and practice with it, it seems to give the best results of anything I've used. I like the extensive control it affords pre-scan; you can really tweak it to record the most useful and important information in your film to give the best image. Vuescan really seemed to be lacking in comparison, both in user control and in the scan results, so I gave up on it.
Technical data for those interested: I'm running OSX 10.4.11 (Tiger) on a 1 GHz Power PC G4, using Silverfast AI 6 to power a Microtek i900. I have no problems with crashing, or any other hardware or software issues- everything works like a charm.
