Silvermax in D76 scans

Very nice. Do you have any experience developing in it anything else, like Rodinal or it's special developer that Adox seems to recommend? Googling around I found more support for Rodinal. The film looks wondrous though. Great shots, too.

That was my first roll so only D76, I'm afraid. I've got some Rodinal and might try that with the next roll. I'm not sure if I've noticed enough difference in online photographs to make Silvermax developer worthwhile but I haven't made up my mind yet.

Very interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing it. I picked up a few rolls of Silvermax back when it 1st was announced but have done nothing with it yet. Nice to see it works so well in D76.

I wonder why do you use D76 stock - is it to reduce the grain appearance e, or is there some other advantage in not using it diluted 1+1?
As to Silvermax, I have read somewhere, that it is a remake of AGFA SCALA. I liked that film a lot, it had great tonality and sharpness, and in portraiture it gave metallic like tones in the middle greys - never seen anything similar thereafter.
When I developed it as negative, I noticed a speed loss to somewhere around EI 100 (both in Rodinal and in Prescysol EF). I think you should try it in some acutance developer.
This is SCALA in Rodinal 1+50 - Summilux R 80/1.4 wide open... even wide open, the combination with this film is too sharp...

I used D76 stock for no other reason than I had some that was getting on a bit and I wanted to use it up. I normally use it 1+1 and that's how I'll use it in future with this film. That's the best compromise between grain and sharpness.

I'll definitely give Rodinal a go and I'll try Spur Acurol as well.
