Silvermax in the UK

Just had an email from Ag-Photographic - they are now stocking Adox Silvermax film and developer.

I'd like to give this a try - the developer is a bit pricey, but I could probably do about 25 films from a 250ml bottle. I probably won't get through anywhere near that many rolls of 35mm before it gets past its use-by.

So question is - has anyone dev'd any other films in Silvermax yet, and how did it go? I use old-school films - FP4+, HP5+, Adox CHS 25 and 100with D76. Is Silvermax developer suited to these, or the more modern films?

I've just had the message from AG too, and I'm also tempted.

I can't answer the original poster's question, but if no one else chimes in with advice, it may be worthwhile giving AG-Photographic a call - they're extremely helpful.

If you Google Silvermax, you will come across a few test results posted online; I have not been 100% impressed by the results, but have ordered a few rolls to try out, as that is the only way to really find anything out.
In my case anyway the jury is still out….
