Hi All
I just picked up this super little lens.
I'm hoping someone can help me figure out a solution for filters.
I would like to be able to put B+W filters on as well as UV/IR cut.
On my opton sonnar I use a 40.5-46 adapter which allows for filters and also a vented hood.
The Simlar seems to Measure 40.5 but the size is not quite the same :?
Am I just incompetent.........Maybe

Does someone have a solution.

BTW if you get a chance at this lens don't pass it.
Dreamy soft open with Radial Bokeh.
Great for Portraits. It sort of reminds me of the Helios 40 Reflex lens.

My early Simlar 50mm F1.5 takes 39mm filters. I believe the very late ones went to 40.5mm.

Mine is the 74th in the series, stops down to F16. The original Simlars only went to F12.5. I have reason to believe mine is the 10th to go to f16.

What is the SN of yours?

Mine, #152071, takes 40mm filters, like many of the Canon RF lenses (50/1.8, 35/2, etc.). It should be returning today from a collimation/CLA spa trip to Focal Point. The eBay vendor known as heavystar sells an inexpensive 40-40.5mm or 40-43mm step-up ring (can't remember which) that I will use for the UV/IR cut filter on the M8.

Thank you for the replies. The SN is 151884 on mine. Mine must be 40mm. The Leica e39 filter I tried was too big. So maybe I should make a different thread for this question.

Is there a good person to CLA and re-curtain a Leotax body? I'm not sure the model. The previous owner thought it was an "S" (???).
She body optics are in beautiful shape but, the shutter curtains are toast. It came with the lens. I don't really need another LTM body but, it is so nice. Shame to retire it in this condition.

Does it have Flash Sync?

My D-IV does not. I can PM you the name of the person that did my D-IV, but he will not work on the Flash-Sync model. The Sync is a mystery to get off.

Here is one from yesterday with the RD1. I did not get a chance to shoot any film yet with it or use it in low light. I love what I see so far. This shot is WO and a bit soft. The WB is a bit on the cool side maybe also.

ahh very pretty.....seems a little bit like a Summarit in looks but softer, somewhere in-between a "Tokyo" Nikkor SC f1.4/50 and the Summarit F1.5/50.

That`s what my eyes tell me, this might have to be yet another fast lens I consider for another signature, the other f1.5 I want is a Nikkor f1.5/50 and they are just too rare and too expensive!

Back to my 36' Xenon 🙂

Happy Shooting!

Tom

PS: Ask Youxin Ye if he would work on the Leotax for you???? Parts must be impossible to find though 🙁

Some with mine, on the Canon P
