There was someone here a while back who had DAG combine an M6 and an M3 to produce an M6 with a classic M3 top cover.

I wonder if DAG could put an M6 meter in my IIIc or a IIIc with an M lens mount. Noctilux on a IIIc? Cool. Joe

Let's see, modify an M6 to take M3 top cover:
Must start with a non-TTL M6, so that it is the same height as the M3 cover.

- remove canted rewind, install M3 style rewind. Not hard. Might need a couple new holes drilled and tapped. Remember, the M6 2000 camera had the M3 rewind.

- M3 cover has 2 flash holes, M6 has only one. Need to fill the M3 holes and drill new hole.

- M3 top has "vampire teeth" front, need to file them off.

Yeah, it's do-able. Would be a fun project.

Doable, but strictly cosmetic. Metered M3 would rock. 🙂

Don't we have an RFF member who created quite a stir about two years ago when he had the meter removed by DAG from an MP?

If you own the camera, my feeling is, you should do what you want with it, short of putting it in a trash compactor. Have fun. Life is short. Ignore all the folks who are giving you a hard time and enjoy the company of all the other folks who have a sense of humor.

Hang on, hang on... A motorcycle is just a tool from going from A to B. Which is why the heads on my BMW R100RS are gas-flowed and twin-plugged, and the oilways enlarged to avoid cavitation.

If the lug and dial removal leave holes or depressions, you can fill them with steel epoxy and sand it down before applying the new cover. I did this with a Canon RF camera; I removed the flash rail and filled the screw holes and wiring slot. The sanded epoxy worked perfectly.

This wasn't mine, just my favorite. In the translation you can read all about how they did it.
