Other Areas Singapore and Malaysia RF Club

Yo Nick! Let's go for durian man! Very busy for the last 1 year as my consultant is working me to death with several research papers and I am doing 2 abstracts at the moment for a conference in Portugal!

I have yet to go through 2000 frames worth of rough materials! Talk about procrastination! Anyway, I am leaving for the States next year to work. Rather tired of Singapore's working culture and looking forward for a change in lifestyle. What have I been missing? :)

Hello to the Singapore crowd! Maybe you can advise me on something... I recently received a Yashica Electro CC but it needs repairs badly. Does anyone know of a good camera repair person in Singapore? I'm really keen to give the camera a run with street photography but it is only good as a desk ornament at present.

Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

Andrew.

Hey Andrew.

I usually visit the Camera Hospital at Sunshine Plaza (near NAFA campus). Steven is quite good and not too expensive. He fixed my YashicaMat 124G TLR which had broken film loading gears. Along with a CLA, it cost me 140 SGD. It is in perfect working condition now. :)

Andrew,

As you know I recently CLA'd an Electro 35 CC that belonged to my dad, bought in 1974 if I'm not mistaken! I had it done at CAM X at the ground floor of Peninsular Shopping centre, (next to excelsior hotel). It cost me S$65, I'm very pleased with the workmanship. View finder is bright and new again!!!

Terence, you got the G2?
Excellent... I'm still missing my G2... did you get the 21mm? I think it is the best lens for the G2.

OK so when is the durian meeting going to be?
We should decide on a theme, everyone bring photos complying to the theme

I got it with the 16/28/50/90 lenses. I would have liked the 21 but i think it's a little too close to the 28 and the ultra wide angle freak in me really wanted the 16 (which I just picked up from photovillage today). might consider the 21 if i sell off the 28.

i'm not sure if mixing photographs with durians is going to be a good idea. might want to wrap everything up before touching. i'm sort of free for the next 2 weeks so count me in if you guys are thinking of an evening durian outing.

Thanks Nick and Naruto for your advice re CLA and fix for my Yashica CC. It seems much smarter to sent it to someone i Singapore who has been recommended rather than send it off to North America (after all it has only just arrived from there!)

Nick I noticed your comment about the low highest shutter speed on your camera - have you thought of a using neutral density filter?

Yes, that is what I'll probably have to do. But I have not got around to doing it yet...

Hi and welcome!

Was just over at P&G a couple of days ago to pick up a 28Ti, quite glad I managed to snag that rare find. They do pretty decent repair work over at P&G at reasonable prices.

Right.... Terence,

and the 28Ti would be...? 28mm titanium m-mount?

(Just how many rare finds do you actually have?:D )

any pics from Brin's bash yet? I saw you with the G2+16mm right?

Here's the Nikon 28Ti, I've been in a point and shoot phase. I think my last 4 purchases have all been similar type of cameras.

Yep, that was the G2+!6mm during the bash. I haven't brought the film to be developed. I've attached an example which Gan shot, on his G2 with my 28mm.
