Good Morning!

I will be traveling to Singapore this week for a vacation and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on a reliable lab for processing XP2 and possibly some Velvia and Sensia.

Also, if anyone has suggestions on good camera shops to check out or any sights that are "must see" I would appreciate any suggestions!

Edit... forgot to mention, I'll be staying in the Orchard Rd. area.

I hope S'pore RFFers point you to a good lab or two; you should be able to re-stock on XP2 at Ruby Photo (Ground floor, Peninsula Hotel Shopping Complex, Coleman St., actually just off North Bridge Road)

& one establishment I would visit is Cathay Photo in Peninsula Plaza, just nearby

For E-6, there is only one lab left, but fortunately they have a dip-and-dunk processor and usually do a good job: Fotohub at Beach Road (www.fotohub.com). Turnaround is usually half a day. They do C41 too.

N.B. Fotohub have several branches but E-6 is processed at their Beach Road outlet. You can get there easily from Orchard Road by the metro system (called the MRT). The stop to use is Bugis. The lab is about a 10 minute walk from the Raffles Hotel.

Fotohub is the best place E6 processing.

If you are into "street photography", then Little India, Chinatown and Arab Street provide lots of opportunities. Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, and the Esplanade areas are the usual tourist haunts. If you want to experience some local everyday life, visit the housing estates located near the MRT stations. I suggest Aljunied, Paya Lebar, Bedok, and some places towards the North of the island. You can just get off the MRT and walkabout, with visits to the local food courts/kopitiams.

Else, the tourist attractions are standard fare in Singapore. Since you are here for a week, you might want to cross the border and see Johor Bahru & Malacca in Malaysia. Malacca has a rich Portugese heritage and can be a very nice place to walk-about.

It's been really hot the past few days with intermittent thunder showers, so pack some cover for your gear. 🙂 I sent you a PM with my contact. ping me if you need more info locally.

One of the least known but best vantages for viewing the city is from atop Tower 3 of Suntec City, which is not far from Fotohub at Beach Road. They have something called the "rooftop tour", though I have never seen it advertised. Go to the information desk in the foyer of Suntec City's Tower 3 and 4 and enquire. Every half-hour someone will take patrons up in a private lift (it used to lead to the offices of the landlord). Its about $10 (maybe more now) to spend half an hour on top of the building (about 45 storeys up). AFAIK its the only place where you can get an almost uninterrupted 360 degree view. But go on a clear day. Good if you have a long lens.

Thank you all for the replies. This forum never lets me down! I will be in Singapore for almost 2.5 weeks, so I will have lots of time to see the sights, I have added all of these to my list.
