I have looked in the net but have not seen any reference for this. I need the wisdom of anyone here who might have an idea. I have a Leica 1928 model a. The strange thing is that it has only 1 sprocket cog at the bottom, not both (up and down). Any idea as to how this could have happened?

I guess it also works with cogs only at the bottom. Are the other cogs filed away?

I removed from the take up spool from my 1928 Leica I the top disk. The top disk was in the way, the spool needed to be a bit higher to avoid perforitis. Perforitis is when the perforation of the film is visible in the film gate.

The camera works perfectly now the top disk of the spool is removed.

Erik.

Sorry just got back. After further research, it was confirmed that early 1928 models have single sprockets. see attached... Can anyone here in the forum confirm this? Or is mine a very early version.. also, what film do you use? Do you use FILCA canisters or modern ones? I suspect the film canister size matters also for early leicas. Thanks for any response.
