Barnack-toting Brit.
What! That's incredible.
On one hand, I guess my original 28/3.5 Color Skopar is going to go down in value. On the other... an extra stop of speed AND brand new production, with hopefully no (eventual/long-term) haze issues? Sign me up.

Nice match for the CLE along with the Voigt 40/2.8 LTM!

Nice to have options, if you want to also put it on a Barnack.

I'm pretty happy they continue to release new LTM lenses. Brings new life to the Barnacks/Bessas/etc. I'd like to see new viewfinders to go with them!
For anyone wanting a modern, tiny 28 this is fantastic news. I'm sure it will blow away the old 28/2.8 M-Rokkor which has been plagued with white dot syndrome, and this pretty much ends any interest in the 28/5.6 TTartisan...

I am really put off by odd filter sizes. Just make that brass lens with a 39mm filter size dammit! The non retro looking one has better ergonomics anyway.
These 30 years I have used and sold many systems and formats. What get left behind are boxes and boxes of orphaned filters.

Too true. What get left behind are boxes and boxes of orphaned filters.
I already have the 40 with the oddball filter, so it's no biggie to pair it with the 28.

Awesome. The VM type 2 looks cool with the minimal look. But since I have the 40ltm it'd probably best to keep to traditional styling of the ltm variant.
Haa the optical formula changed from older skopars?

The 28/3.5 was 7 elements in 5 groups, the new 28/2.8 has 8 in 5, with an aspherical element.

Those worried about the oddball 34mm one can easily buy a 34-39mm stepup ring

Thanks. An opportune time given I was considering the Brightin Star XSLIM-M 28mm F2.8 which has 6 elements in 5 groups. I'm always a low element count fan so it's a toss up.The 28/3.5 was 7 elements in 5 groups, the new 28/2.8 has 8 in 5, with an aspherical element.
Users are spoilt for choice in this day and age

Choosing a “Brighten Star”, “AstrWhorey”, “5 Fartisans”, “Light Lens Larcenists” or pop-up “Junkintrunk” over a Cosina Voigtländer is puzzling. WADR.
