As you may have read a week ago over here http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86492 , I lost the 25mm finder of my Snapshot Skopar on the very first day..

Well, the pictures I took with the 25mm lens and the 50mm finder were mostly a disappointment as I didn't 'get in close enough' by far to fill the frame.

But what did come out right was what I shot with the FED 50/3.5 Collapsible. For all its 50+ years of age, that lens is magic!

I'm still pondering what to do about that 25mm missing finder.. besides replacing it, I could also trade the 25 lens by itself for a 35mm finder (which I also don't have).. or perhaps even trade a 50/2 M-Hexanon for an R to stick the 25 on and use the whole finder as an approximation.. I guess I'll have to watch the classifieds for a while.

Now, on to the pictures: CV25 on the left, FED50 in the middle and on the right..

Bad luck losing that finder! 🙁 ...maybe one of those six-station Russian turret finders could be a cheap alternative?. I too have that Fed 50mm - and love the way it renders colours, but perhaps we are both being stupid, as another thread here says that only idiots expect anything from old Russian gear!😉

Hey, thanks for the post...I do enjoy skiing and since I cannot make the 3-hour trek to our nearest slopes, at least you have given me a gift! Nice to see and dream about...😎

Sorry about the finder.

I'm a fan of skiing with a rangefinder...small enough to go inside your jacket, no viewfinder issues in the harsh light (as you have with an EVF) - however I agree that "zooming with your feet" can be tricky, I use my M8 with tri-elmar most of the time and this holiday tried my 75mm when I wanted more reach. And no - no issues with the cold and batteries/condensation or anything else this time or before...! Hope the attachments work - not tried this before...taken at Hintertux in Austria.
