Skopar 25/4 discontinued

I had one for a few weeks earlier this year, but decided I'd really prefer a 28 because my M6 had framelines. I wouldn't mind another 25, but I'm trying hard to keep the RF kit small...

Won't happen! Well not likely anyway.

That was my whole reason for going RF, then I joined this place and got GAS. Started with one body and three lenses, now four bodies (including the Bessa L) and nine lenses  15+VF, 21+VF, 28+VF, 2x35 (one screw mount), 2x50, 75, 2x90 (one screwmount). And I'm pondering another 50 screw mount and maybe a faster 28 at some time. Ooo eck thats no light kit. Most of it was bought used.

The fact is my regular user is the Bessa R with 35, 75 which is fine for most things shot on negative.

Gonna have to book in for therapy to gradually leak that GAS  Still can't take a good photo though :D

A good 85 percent of my stuff is shot with RFs though so all the kit gets plenty of use..... which is nice.

Confirmation: the 25/4 LTM is Discontinued

Confirmation: the 25/4 LTM is Discontinued

Sometimes people don't realize how great something is, until its gone.

The 25/4 is not a good lens, it is GREAT lens, a wonderful wonderful performer at a rediculously low price. Much better than the old 25 Nikkor or 25 Canon, at a small fraction of the price. Even better, it is TINY and LIGHT WEIGHT! YAY !!

And you really don't need RF coupling on 25 and wider lenses.

So why was it discontinued? Newbies kept on asking for a rangefinder coupled lens, which they did not need, something they were too inexperienced to understand.

Eventually the 25/4 will be replaced with a RF coupled lens, at a substantially higher price. If you don't have one, buy uncoupled 25/4 become the prices go up once the dealers are sold out! Hell, the lens AND viewfinder are only $245 now. The Viewfinder ALONE sells for $128. You do the math.

"along with the Bessa-T and 75/2.5 SL as being discontinued."

I'm pleased I got my 75 when I did, a truely astonishing lens for the money. The news about the 25 on its way out has been around for some tdime. Robert White in the UK has run out of black ones a while back.

I could be tempted though to go for a 25 but like others here I have the 28 Skopar and the 21 (and the 15), just don't know when I would find the time to use it.
So there's no confusion, the 75mm that got discontinued was the SLR-mount and NOT the LTM mount :)

Honestly, I wish that my other CV lenses had focusing "stops", too.

Hear, hear! IMO, this would be a huge upgrade to existing lenses that are 50mm or less - mild clicks at hyperfocal distance for, say, f/4 and f/8.
