So I'm new to all this, but is it just me or are the prices for a 'nice' Canon QL-17 GIII and the Yashica GSN ridiculously high? NOW, I also realize that I really want a 'nice' Canon QL-17 GIII or GSN, but over $100 bucks seems kinda high. I think I need to check out the 'flea' at the Pasadena Rose Bowl this weekend.

Wow,
It seems like nostalgia night for me. I first went to the Pasadena Flea Market in 1969 and bought my then GF a cute little puppy.
The dog lived 17 years and the marriage 21 - must have been the dog chow, LOL.
But $100 for a QL17, YIKES!
And my Yashica GT only cost $20, and looks SO sexy!
You might find one at that HUGE flea market, good luck. 🙂

100 USD for a yashica electro seems to be over the top - it is thoug a very nice camera and it is worth every penny! I have the G, and sold of a GS and a GSN - I like the style of the buttom plate on the G better and the lens is the same and I have no use for the flash socket in the hot shoe - so you might as well get a G or GS or the beautiful GT if you can find it cheaper that the GSN

as far as i know it is a 2,8 lens and not quit the same quality as the older ones

I've got 15 various Yashicas mainly from the E""" site and never paid more than $15 for any of them. Great deals are out there, just need to be lucky/ buy groups of cameras/ watch for misspelled items. Also buy items closing Sundays or Sunday nights. Canonet QL 17 Glll prices are a bit crazy now, no doubt fueled by various forums...... but careful bidding, a bit of patience and/or thrift/pawn shop shopping can usually find one for between $20-50 not anywhere in the ballpark of $100. Renowned cheapskate that I am, Curt in Canada.

Also a fast glance at mine shows MG-1 has f2.8, most G series have f1.7, Lynx have f1.8 (except Lynx14 with f1.4)and Ministers, J, Campus and YK have f2.8. Yashica M also has f1.8.

Just had to defend the MG-1 a little and say that mine has taken some decent photos for me and I was pleasantly surprised. The F2.8 lens is a little slow but then there is fast film. Anyway it does OK.

Check out shopgoodwill.com. What you find might not be in the best condition, but you'll more than likely get a good price on it. I scored a Nikon FE with 50mm lens, a Vivitar 70-210mm Series 1 Macro zoom, 2x teleconverter, two flashes, and a bag for $72 there yesterday.

Consider that there was a time when ANY Canonet was reaching those prices... At least now it's come back to fairly reasonable levels.

Sometimes it pays to fork over some nice cash. I paid $66 for my Canonet, and it came with the instruction manual, new seals and a lens cap. My Yashica GS costed $51, and it came with the Yashica-guy battery adapter. My first Konica S2 was only $32, but it was a DOA for $32. I had to pay $76 for another that came in pristine condition.

And now... they're all gone (except the Canonet)...
