If you want cheap- good for practice of exposure anyway-
try the voitlander branded-probably-fuji stuff for 1 dollar a roll (36 ex!)from http://www.photosuperia.com/film-slide-film-c-23_62.html
I have one roll back, and I can say that it does actually make photographs-
the day I shot it had horrid light, and not much of it, so no postcards, but nice non-drastic saturation.

Any suggestions for someone changing from print film to slide,good films to start with ect.Daughter shows interest in slides...

Kodachrome. Buy it on eBay slightly expired for around $2 a roll and process it at Walmart for $4.75 a roll -- beats everything. All the E6 films are respectable too -- there are not any bad ones these days.

As a follow up on my last post about slide films for pushing it looks like you can still get Kodak Ektachrome P1600 but it's like $14/roll. Yikes.

Would love to try pushing some cheaper more common slide film to similiar effect if anyone has played with this and has some suggestions. I'm looking more for this pushed look than the actual speed improvement.

Again, I think Kodak E200 is a good choice for pushability; the film takes a 1-stop push in stride, and (although I haven't pushed it this far) is known to take a 2-stop push reasonably well. I like the color balance and grain structure a bit better than Fuji's equivalent overall (but Fuji is hardly a slouch here).

In my 16mm film days we would push ASA 100 or so Kodak reversal stock 3 or 4 stops. I once made a short documentary of the jazz players in Preservation Hall back in the early 70's this way all done in ambient light -- grainly as hell, but it worked. This was Ektachome movie film and not "designed" for pushing, people just did it and thought nothing of it.
