Slightly O/T...TLR question

ok...so SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex, the reflex being the mirror that moves in the camera body, right?

why then are TLR's called reflex cameras as the point of having 2 lenses is that there needs be no moving mirror?

Sorry if this is an inane question, but it has been bugging me. 🙂
 
I get that there is a mirror in there, but there is also a non-moving mirror in an RF camera...the reflex part of the name refers specifically to the movement of the mirror, does it not?

No, it means the whole ground glass image has been reflected by a mirror. (The mirror in a RF camera only relects the rangefinder patch image.)
