Slightly OT: What do you do w your 6x6 slides?

Pherdinand, may I suggest you look into Autofocus in Bussum and Foto Abro in Zaandam I'm sure there are others, but these two have been selling me good stuff for decent prices over the years.

I shoot slides for colour and bw for bw and I prefer slides because you can project them. I think it's the best way to enjoy those pictures. By the way, if I copied my bw negatives with a slide copier onto bw negative would I get bw slides? #:-]

Why one should shoot 120 size transparencies.

Hmm, so far there was no answer that would help convincing me to shoot more slides.
Thanks all, anyway!

The MAIN reason to shoot medium-format transparencies, as opposed to color negatives, is the color rendition and saturation, and their ability to scan really really well, to make nice large prints with the least amount of fiddling in Photoshop.

I treat my medium-format transparencies just as if they were strips of negatives, putting them in page sleeves, viewing them on a light table with a loupe to make the selection for scanning.

Most if not all scanners that can scan medium format film will do a better job with color transparencies than they will with color negatives. It is easier to get spectatular scans with color transparencies.

I have also found that the scanners pick up more imperfections in color negatives, whicih requires more work in photoshop to correct.

My first enlarger was a multi format one accepting 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 trhu 35 mm negs. Then I tilted the projection head 90 deg. and that´s all. I´ve also found a cheap 105 mm enlarging lens, which together with the enlarger was way cheaper than a Rollei 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 projector. Anyway, the Rollei was unable to take any 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 slide.

Ernesto, that sounds like a very clever solution. And cheap. And the quality should be good, since enlarging is serious business🙂
Definitely something to keep in mind, since old MF enlargers are going quite cheap over here in the Netherlands. Thanks alot!

Update:
I have the slides back. Out of 12, I have 3 or 4 that I am quite happy with. That's a great ratio, esp. for the first roll.
It's quite a different sensation, watching it with a loupe on a light table, than prints or images on a monitor. But still, it bothers me that i can't see it well with the bare eyes.

Problem is, i can't digitalize it in any way. The lab does scans for euro2,50 + startup costs etc....

What I thought of: I have a digital point and shoot of a better quality. I wonder if i can just photograph it on a light table or such, for web display 🙂 Has anyone done such a thing?
