Leica LTM SLR/ LTM or LTM/ SLR?

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
The focus mount to film plane distance for virtually all SLR's is greater than the reistration distance of a LTM lens. As a consequence, the LTM lens would not focus at infinity. Leitz lenses intended for use with a Visoflex allowed the lenshead (with the optics) to be dismounted from the focusing barrel in oder to work around this problem.

There are adapters which allow the use of Visoflex lenses on Leicaflex and and Leica Reflex cameras. I believe that you are limited to lenses longer than 50mm.

The reverse of your question can work quite well, using SLR lenses on a Barnack Leica - here the difference in lens registration differences work in your favor. I use Pentax mount wide angles on a Leica IIIf with a home-machined adapter; focus is by use of the lens engraved scale. This isn't a problem with the large depth of field of a wide anlge lens.

If you are asking about lenses that stop down only when you take the picture, no, not that I ever remember. In the pure LTM mount, there is no coupling to do this. Lots did stop-down (Bessaflex is the most recent).
