Anyone find a good fanny pack/hip pack/sling bag for just an M9 with attached lens?

I've got a Peak Everyday Sling, the 5L version which is wonderful but too big for just the camera.

Want something super compact but with a little structure to hold the weight of an M9 with battery and lens.

Not too many pockets, logos, or camera bag overkill.

Will be worn over shoulder.

So many fannys out right now.

Most are 1L and should work perfect.

I like Topo Designs, but honestly most Fanny’s are created equal.

Patagonia has a affordable option as well as Eddie B and Rei.

Topo has the least amount of branding (a simple tag that can be removed with a seam ripper)

You could always make one... plenty of free and cheap patterns if your handy.

I'm a big fan of Topo Designs as well but their smaller waist/sling pack doesn't seem to have enough depth (I'm using a Leica Q). I have and use their Commuter Briefcase every day for work and love it. I've tried a variety of other waist style packs and I like the Fjallraven Ulvo and was set on that until I saw Moment's new pack. I ordered it to give it a try - should arrive Thursday.

The style reminds me of Artisan-n-Artist bags and the many pockets seem pretty well thought out.

domke 5xa...

I considered the 5xa as well since Domke bags are so reliable. I still use my F6 from time to time but the Velcro and the lack of a supplied waist strap make the 5xa a non starter. It’s more of a shoulder bag. I’ve tried other “belt loop” bags and they are not as comfortable as a dedicated fanny/waist pack.

my 2 favorite small travel camera bags are
-Domke 5xb for 1-2 small cameras and lens
-Lowepro Terraclime 100 for 1 small camera and lens

The Terraclime should fit your need, very small, light, conforms to your body and doesnt scream camera bag.

Let me know how you get along with it, I've been looking for a smaller than 5L bag myself to carry an M, a few rolls and my usual keys/phone/wallet.

I like the look of the Moment one. I looked at it a few weeks back and then forgot about it.

Thanks for the reminder.

that moment bag looks great.. something I might be interested aswell.. however I cant seem to find any pictures or videos of a camera with lens inside the bag?

Topo Quick Pack is great! I carry 2 M-bodies with lenses attached, wrapped in the Domke wraps.

Topo Designs also made and even smaller quick pack (the mini quick pack), but I don't have personal experience with it. Seems like it would hold 1 M-camera w/lens pretty easily (but not a big DSLR)

This one from shootfilmco.com looks like it would fit what you're looking for:

It's showing as sold out but perhaps they'll do another run.

OP, not sure what lens you'll have attached to your M9, but some bag measurements might be helpful. Depending on your lens, the bag depth (with some allowance for fabric flex) might be a limiting factor:
Topo Designs Mini Quick Pack - 10.5"w x 6"h x 2"d
Topo Designs Quick Pack - 13"w x 7"h x 4"d
Moment Fanny Sling - 8.25"w x 5.1"h x 3.75"d (internal dimensions)

Either a 35/2 or a 28/3.5 so both pretty small lenses.

Really the Moment one looks like what i want. I'm sure the Topos would work too but don't really care for the looks of them with extra tabs and zippers etc.

Update, got the Moment pack (Amazon same day shipping).

Nice bag but it's going back. It's a good size but they stupidly have a small zippered pouch that extends above the main compartment and creates a little overhang that makes it cumbersome to take the camera in and out.

I'll keep looking. Just figured if anyone else is looking at this you might want to know.

I removed all the 'dividers' and squish it aside when opening and removing. Working okay for me so far.

Yeah I figure for $70 it should be close to perfect.

Can probably find a simpler one with some poking around an REI or similar store.

The Moment has a nice structure to it, but the Peak Design one spoiled me with how thoughtfully designed it is and how easy it is to access the camera. Wish they did a 2.5 liter Everyday Sling.

A Crumpler sling/waist pack might be useful to you. I use the old Crumpler LLA waist pack for a general purpose bag, and it can carry a M9 with lens in a pinch. It's been discontinued, but Crumpler have others.

There's a new Crumpler sling bag called the Humanoid which looks pretty cool. I think it's the first time they have made a one strap sling of this design, a bit like the Patagonia Atom Sling but thicker and more padded.
