The Petri Color 35 is excellent. The in-finder scale focus indicator
is far easier to use than the poor RF patches on most compact 35s.

Wow guys thank you so much for your feedback!
I've since got a Vitessa L, waiting for it to arrive. Scared of border taxes and possible issues (seems like it would be a bitch to fix, if needed to, lens definitely needs cleaning).
In any case, it's not the smallest or the lightest but I really liked the kinds of images it seems to be able to produce. Mostly I'm excited about how freaking beautiful it looks and the fact that I'll have full control over shutter and aperture.
Cheers,
-d.

Nice good luck with it. They are very cool cameras. Which lens does yours have?
I really need to put mine back together.

As regards fixed lens rangefinders I think the Vito III is ideal.
Voigtlander German built camera from the early 1950's (1952-56) with superb build quality..
Very pocketable camera with a great 5cm f2 Ultron coated (6 element lens) in a Synchro- Compur XM shutter.
Scarce camera but worth the search to find one.

Hey Shawn, don't got it yet, it's still in the customs, probably waiting for someone to slap a hefty tag on it. But when I do, it'll be 2.0 Ultron

Having owned only a few rangefinders, other than my Leica M4, I always really liked the Minolta 7sII with its 1.7 40mm lens. Mine is now a display piece as the aperture leaves got stuck once again (twice in about 40 years).
