Other/Uncategorized small lens in 100mm?

Other Screw mount bodies/lenses
Canon made a nice small 100mm f3.5. There is also an f4 version, not as highly regarded, but hey, we're talking vintage lenses. There is the 90mm f4 Elmar and a more compact but much heavier collapsible version.

I don't know about the lightest, but Frank is right about the Canon 100/3.5. It's very compact and lightweight, and very sharp. Takes up very little room in the camera bag or pocket.

Yep, just bought one of these nice lightweights last month on the *bay for $125. Dante Stella at his website thinks very highly of these lenses. I sent mine in to be CLA'd by Focal Point. Cost for the CLA is $95 plus shipping. John Van Stelton at Focal Point said to be real careful and not buy any with haze in the front elements. The glass has a high metal content and can't be cleaned properly.

Best Wishes.

The smallest and lightest is probably the Tele Rokkor 11cm f5.6 (made by Chiyoko, later known as Minolta). It is shorter than most 85mm lenses and, consistent with its speed, very thin.

The smallest you are likely to find, and great to boot, is the aforementioned Canon 100mm f3.5. The older chrome/black is narrower than the later all-black, but both are small and light. Watch out for internal haze and fogging, though.

Cheers,

David
