Recently picked up an Agfa ePhoto 780, which I think was manufactured in the middle to late 90’s, using 3.3V SmartMedia data cards.

Second-hand card readers can be obtained, but it’s important to make sure the reader is 3.3V and that it can detect the cut out top right of the card, otherwise the card can suffer permanent damage. Any idea how to make sure I have an appropriate card reader?

The card readers tend to be multi format, all the way up to SD, having a USB connection to the computer. I’m running Windows 8 and wonder if the jpeg images on the card will download successfully so that I can open them for display (If so it’s likely Light Room will play too).

Thanks for any replies and advice.
