Smudge on lens, image problems?

After shooting most of a roll in early morning light at 1.4/125 using a 50mm lems i noticed a 1/3 postage stamp (or less) sized smudge (finger print?) on the lens that easily wiped clean.

Will this affect the processed images? If so, how severely?

No, not likely.

Agreed... this is the most common issue caused by lens smudges.

It's impossible to say more because flare is highly situational.

Often there are no obvious ill effects.
