Pal_K, you win the prize for 60's pop culture trivia! Nancy Sinatra it is! For you younger folks, she had a big hit, "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'", and always performed in thigh-high white go-go boots. I was young and impressionable; what can I say?

Ohh ok, I am not old enough to remember that. I was born in 1975. Honestly, I probably wouldn't know her even if she was popular today. I have zero interest in pop culture. I don't watch TV, I have not gone to a movie in 20 years, and I find 99% of today's music revolting.
Nancy Sinatra, I presume.

Maybe I’m weird, but I’ve always picked up and carried my cats like a baby. For some reason they didn’t mind being upside down. When I got a 10 year old “rescue cat” at the shelter (a worker whom I knew told me nobody wanted it and that people would adopt it and bring it back :-( ), the first thing I checked was whether it would purr for me and the second thing I did was cradle it - it didn’t mind. So I adopted it. It had originally been with a family that had kids and dogs and it was fearful at first. But we got along and I gave it a nice life. I’ve always had cats.
My father made this photo of me and our cat a little while ago…
Cute photo. Kitty was lucky you found him.

Many people who have never owned a good cat believe that cats are not people friendly like dogs. I know they are wrong - a good cat is a treasure and there is nothing better than having a cat sit on your lap and purr. Cheaper than a therapist!
I never saw a "good cat" , but I would certainly like to see one. They seem to be never interested in me. Dogs will stay friends for ever and ever
. A golden retriever lives next door and we met her the day she came home from the breeder. She was smaller than a football: now 70 pounds. She charges over when she spots us ever after 9 years. I dog sit several times a year.
Dana Perino had a really nice dog named Jasper, but he passed on after 9 years last week. He appeared on TV many times during the past decade.
Our local rescue center was down to one dog when Covid 19 came.

Sorry to just hear that now! Jasper was indeed a celebrity.

This thread contains a couple hundred photos of a good cat.

Yesterday Sneaky killed a huge cicada and left it on the doorstep for me. He’s laying by it, looking at it! He's killed another one a couple weeks ago, but only left one wing and a chunk of its body on the doorstep that time. For some reason, he didn't eat any of this one.

I hope you ate the cicada. It's bad manners to refuse...
Now, Chris, re: your loathing for pop culture. I share your distaste, but do occasionally check on what's going on, on the principle that one should know one's enemies. And since it's such a pervasive and unavoidable part of the environment (some might argue that it is the environment), we still engage with it whether we care to or not. For example, many of your Fort Wayne photos integrate aspects of pop culture in a way that feels, to me, like an ironic commentary on the somewhat scruffy, economically struggling community that you love and call home.
Probably the "Sneaky" thread is not the place, but there could be endless discussion of what, exactly, constitutes pop culture, what is "high culture", what do those terms mean in our media-saturated world, and do they even hood validity any more? One can earn a college degree these days in Cultural Studies, and probably do one's thesis on the Kardashians. UGH!

Sneaky killed a mouse a few weeks ago. It was the first one in over a year. He has gotten lazy!

but he killed it. so -- good cat.

Look at those jaws! The mice have nothing to fear, though. Sneaky was just yawning.

Sneaky likes to go out and roll around on the driveway.

Awesome! What do you think?
I’ve only glanced through it briefly so far, but I can tell it will provide me with all the art education I will ever need.

It will also confirm a healthy skepticism of the art world and it pretensions. Enjoy!

Went outside early this morning to look for Sneaky, who had gone outside an hour or so earlier. He ran up to the door and he had WINGS sticking out from both sides of his head! Looked again and realized that he had a robin in his mouth! It was still alive, too; but badly mangled.
I went in to get my camera, and when I went back out, the bird was gone. He must have let it go, though I doubt it lived long. He came in and stretched out on the counter with a contented look on his face and demanded food.

Sneaky has gotten a lot more predatory in the last few weeks. After more than a year of laziness, he killed a mouse about 3 weeks ago. Since then he's killed two cicadas and a bird.
I wish I could have gotten a photo of him with that bird in his mouth, it looked like he had wings on his head!

How does Sneaky sleep all twisted up like that?? And he is on top of some books instead of on his comfy poop emoji pillow.

Sneaky likes to sit on my front porch and watch the yard. One must be vigilant; there are other cats in the neighborhood, and we wouldn’t want them encroaching on Sneaky’s territory! He sprays the bushes, trees, mailbox post, the outside of the house, and even my car’s wheels daily to make sure none of his rivals forget that HE is the KING here!
