My Red Dot Glows For You
It looks like the replica is made of aluminum. Can the owner of one confirm that this is or is not the case? I'd like to order a few myself.
I do have an "original" SNHOO, but I was extremely lucky: I found it "by accident", and asked for the price. I won't say how much it was, but let's just say that when I paid for it I considered myself extremely lucky.

I bought a Heavystar summitar adapter and liked it so much I bought another for my other summitar. Great buy.
Heavystar also has a 40mm Summicron-C to E39 adapter, which solves another arcane Leica filter issue.
I bought the 40mm 'set' with adapter, vented shade and lens cap. The shade is nice and small and can be used on the summitar as well.
The other big plus is I can now use my 40mm on my M8 with a E39 UV-IR filter.
Its amazing how a cheap piece of aluminum can make people happy!
What will they think of next?

Indeed, the replica is made of aluminum and not chrome covered brass, but it is very well made and the threads are true on my sample. Given the price, you can't go wrong.

I'm at a loss here. What exactly does this adapter do? I don't see any threads inside the adapter, so what's it for?
I want an adapter that will bring the inside threads closer to the top edge so I can mount other 39mm accessories on it (i.e. aftermarket hoods).
Will this adapter do that? Like I said, I don't see any inside threads so I don't understand what it's for.
Please help.

I am lucky enough to have an original Leica one. I think the Heavy star has been around for while now as i have seen non Leica ones advertised some time back. They are a welcome addition since as you say the originals are hard to source.

Got my replica SNHOO in the post today. Since I didn't get an answer back from anyone and nothing was completely clear about how it worked, I took a chance and ordered one along with a lens hood I wanted. It all went together beautifully. Now I just need to wait for Youxin to finish with my 1939 II and Summitar so I can put it all together. Love these toys.....
