First snow of the year --
an early surprise for us.
What happened to Global
Warming?
Taken this morning on my
part of Broadway, Leica IIIa,

Wonderful picture. The Afghan blends in nicely.
I'm hoping for some snow here soon too. I want to try out my 35mm Elmar with my IIIa

Powder in Gotham! I love it and the sense of community that arises in New York when nature descends upon it.
Keep the images coming. I'd love to know how the Elmar 35mm behaves when flare is a risk.

The dog is annoyed.
Of course, here in the southeast of the USA, aka Droughtland, we got zip.

i wonder... is its annoyance due to the weather or to being photographed?

If you were tied to a parking meter on a snow-covered NYC sidewalk how would you feel?

Thats a wonderful shot. How did you go about setting the exposure? Did you meter against the snow, sky or what? Hpoe we get some this year.

The woman, who hastily tied the dog
to the meter before running into the
market, fed neither the meter nor the
dog before rushing from the scene.

I metered off my hand, then opened up another
stop to make sure I got enough detail from under
the market awning. It wasn't scientific, just a
guess really. Sanders

If you can see a white dog in the snow it was a pretty good guess!
Are you using an auxilary viewfinder with your 35 or just guessing that as well?

But what kind of camera is the guy walking toward you carrying?

David! I miss you! How's Melchi?
It was some digisomething.
When he came abreast I asked,
"How d'you put film in that thing?"
He looked confused.

Melchi had his first birthday today. Here's my favorite recent photo (with the 5x7 Press Graflex)--
We went out with some friends for brunch today, and afterward I stopped at Fairway Uptown to do a little grocery shopping before coming home and had my Canon New F-1 with me, and another guy with his daughter said, "Look, that's a camera just like daddy used to have." He showed me his G9, but definitely had some nostalgia for the F-1 and said "It's good to see someone still cranking out the film."
Anyway, we should meet up again sometime.

David, that's a fantastic photograph. Take lots
of photos now, while he's too young to say "No."

Good guess indeed. The shadow detail really accentuates the white snow, and thanks for the handy tip

He's too young to say "no," but just old enough to try to climb up the tripod leg to find out what that toy is that daddy's playing with.

David,
I very nearly took the Voigtlander Superb out this
morning before reconsidering and taking the Leica.
I need to give that camera a good workout, soon.

The photos with the Superb from the Serra show were superb. Looking forward to seeing what you do next with it.
Do you ever shoot color? I thought the uncoated Heliar had a nice effect with a punchy, but not off the scale, slide film like Provia 100F.

Sanders,
Another cracking shot with old gear! I look forward to your posts as they give me something to aim for
Is that a coated Elmar? I don't have a 35mm Elmar, got a Summaron by accident (thought I was bidding on an Elmar - moral: don't bid on the 'bay while under the influence of alcohol - LOL!).
Still Fomapan?
