Oh, mice n' men and so on...

The Plan: Some Christmas-Day shooting on several unused rolls of Kodachrome, pack 'em up and Express Mail them first thing Monday morning, arriving at Dwayne's no later than the 28th. Cutting it a bit close, but I thought a two-day cushion would cover me under most circumstances.

"Most", of course, didn't include a blizzard that KO'd Gotham for a good two days...and closed up the Post Office until today!

I thought that if at least I got it out today, it might hit Dwayne's P.O. box by noon. No dice: it wouldn't reach 'em until Friday, due to our still-inclement conditions.

Ugh.

Licking my wounds now, then getting on with my moving plans (also knocked off-schedule by the storm), and other photo stuff. Looking forward to seeing everyone else's shots.

I know that Dwayne's made it clear when the processing would stop, but I have to wonder why they didn't choose another date, say January 15th; this would have allowed everyone to get their holiday photos in. Oh well. After this frenzy of Kodachrome, I'm looking forward to shooting something else. At one point I had four cameras loaded with some sort of Kodachrome. My last three rolls were delivered this morning—hope your stuff gets in under the wire.
 
I'm looking forward to all the Kodachrome bargains next year ... it'll be novel to shoot a film you can't get processed.

It removes all the guilt from having numerous exposed unprocessed rolls laying around ... I think I'll call it my 'Winogrand Project!' 😀

Maybe it opens up opportunities for using different types of chemicals with Kodachromes?
Maybe I am only dreaming.
 
Plenty of it for sale on Ebay at the moment i feel for the poor souls that buy it then take the best photos of their lives.
I don't think i every used it more of a Fuji 50 guy in the old days

Kodachrome put Dwaynes on the map. In the interest of keeping former Kodachrome users as customers in future
they should continue processing it until all supplies of the required chemistry are completely exhausted.

Unfortunately Keith, Winogrand's negatives were processed post-humously. I have yet to see the touring exhibit of the work.

I got mine in with hours to spare (fingers crossed). I still have several rolls of Kodachrome and I briefly read there are ways to process it as B&W. so I will research that in the near future

Barrett don't feel bad, missed mine too. USPS told me they couldn't get it there till Friday, didn't take the chance. I'll keep my package for another week and see. Otherwise I'll get out the D76 or Diafine and post-em B&W.

Hey Barrett, we're just as snowed in on Long Island (Long Beach), made it to the UPS store today, sent it overnight, according to tracking it's already on a plane and will be at Dwayne's by 10am tomorrow. Sorry UPS (or FedEx) won't help now, but here's hoping you can get your film processed.
 
Well, life (including my life with film) goes on. I'll put the rolls of Kodachrome aside (all the while singing Tony Banks' "All I Need is a Miracle"), then buy a few test rolls of Ektar for a possible future project.

The King is Dead*, and all that jazz.

Give the Ektar a fair shake. It's a good emulsion and I find it a delight to work with. Just remember it's a print film with the latitude of a transparency film and you'll be fine.

Right now, though, I'm going to go drink a toast to the "absent friends" of lost films. For me, the big one was Plus-X sheets but we all have our favorite missing film.

Oh, I've shot Ektar since it first came out (got comp'd a few rolls from Rochester), and love it. Just want to dial it in a bit more for a project that largely involves my Olympus OM-2n and the Sigma 21-35 that's bolted onto it at the moment.

Indeed. I've been relatively lucky in that there hasn't been a film I've "lost" that wasn't replaceable. (At least, so far...losing Neopan 1600 does hurt a bit, though.)

At this date, the only thing to learn is if Diafine or D76 can develop it... 🙁
