After my successful-so-far printing experiments last week:

http://fed-2.org/g/geyser

and a small break due to being in the medical clink for a blood clot, I've now tried developing a few rolls. My first test last night (tmax 3200, diafine) had an exposed wave down the entire roll due to inadequate agitation. I was worried because of stuff I'd read on the 't00bs about Diafine being sensitive to too *much* agitation.

Just goes to show not to trust stuff you read on the internet (at least without context).

Today, did two rolls with some standard agitation and a good long fix (six minutes), and everything looks perfect so far.

Once I develop my other five non-test rolls that have been sitting here for six months and finish printing the 8x10s for my wife's birthday present, the small sum I've put into supplies will have more than paid for itself already. My time is worth *something*, but if I hadn't been doing this I'd probably have just been tweaking my website or reading about modernist sculpture on the internet or something, so, that's a wash.

Thanks to the folks on here who are always encouraging about the bathroom chemistry.

Great to see good results from the bath/darkroom.

It just goes to show that an hour with a camera and darkroom time is worth more than 10 spent reading various bits on information on the internet.

Good for you. I am looking forward to getting back into the printing of negatives myself. I recently purchased an Omega D5 with dichroic head. Now I have to make some space to use it, get some larger trays, and mix up some chemicals. Oh, printing paper too. :D :D
