I used to do a fair bit of concert photography from 2001-2008. Got frequent requests for my pics for publications (websites, newsletters, CD-artwork, newspapers). As I am 100% amateur and do nothing more than putting my pics on-line and sometimes add a link to a fan forum, this is very gratifying.
Today I got a request from a Dutch internet radio station to use a photo I made of a well known Dutch singer. The picture is fairly old (2007), but the weird thing is, instead of all the pics of all the professionals with their state-of-the-art dSLRs that they could have chosen, they chose a picture made by an amateur, shot with a 30 year old SLR on actual b/w film. I paid for my ticket that night and brought my camera 'just in case'. I actually remember being very pleased of getting this shot while standing in the crowd.
If this sounds like blowing my own trumpet, well, I'm just happy 🙂
