after 20 years i reckon i have this black and white business figured. i want to start shooting colour, and i mean seriously immersing myself in colour (should cover the next 20 years).

i have read the Wucius Wong and Birren but I am open to suggestions on more.

any of you 'art crowd' (insert contempt here) have hints?

much obliged!

Enhancing colour instead of removing it, if shooting digital, may a be the way to go. Joking apart, You've got a number of outstanding photos on your page, in colour too, so it doesn't really look like you need tons of advice. It's going to work just fine ;-)

Thanx, I wa looking at the work of Starraro today and man, color and it's interrelationships hit me like a ton o bricks!

I highly recommend getting up to speed in his work to see brilliant color work. Apocalypse Now, The Last Emperor...

I guess it's about understanding what potential color has an using it effectively. If you luck at the work of folks like Webb, Manos, Allard and such, these guys knew their color theory (in all it's debatable forms) and applied it well.

That's what I am striving for. I want the color to have undeniable purpose.
