So, how did the Leica S2 turn out, business-wise?

It's been a year or so since the availability of the S2.

But you don't hear much about it.

Was/is it a sucess in it's niche?

Is Leica making profit from it?

Good question, it would be interesting to see sales figures. My understanding was that they were selling all they could make, the backlog was on the lens side. Could be wrong.

I really want Leica to be profitable, if only because then maybe MAYBE we can have a digital M body a bit less expensive than the M9.

The sales guy at my local Calumet has a couple in stock (with and without sapphire), and told me he hasn't sold one yet. The pricing puts it out of any but the most well-heeled amateur's reach, unlike a M9, and I don't know if pros can afford that kind of investment in these difficult economic times, compared to a Nikon D3X.
