I made the trip into NYC to walk through the Photo Plus Expo and did get to see the S2.

Wow, it is huge! Think big thick like the Pentax 67. Jumbo steroid version of a 35mm SLR. Simply styled and curved unlike the 67, but a paving stone with hole where the lens screws in.

No, I did not fight through the salivating pros (no exchange of bodily fluids is acceptable to me) and hold the machine, but from the look in their face when each got their hands on it it is as would be expected, hefty.

There was a lot of interest in the S2, there were scores of people lined up to see it and play with it.

I was just struck by it's size and dimensions, particularly compared to the Hasselblad and Mamiya MF digi cams it is built to compete against. Thinking of it now, I wonder how it feels to hand hold, which is easy with the Hasselblads and Mamiyas.

Without the booster pack on the bottom, it's very handy indeed: I found it quite a lot easier to hand-hold than either the Mamiya or the Hasselblad (and I've handled all three). It's not bad with the booster on, but I prefer it without.

Cheers,

R.

I really think they'll have a very very serious machine with this. I don't think they'll play second best again or use anything but the best technology. I can see the image quality being epic. Massive Kodak sensor with leica lenses..... mmmm
