So, it's been a while since earthquake and so forth...
Now I am curious: is it possible now to go to store (or on-line) in US and actually buy Fuji X100? Is it finally available like any other digital camera or still not?
Thanks.

I've only heard of waiting lists for them.
Saw a gent today at an AV show with an X100, got to at least play with it.
Front end short but stout; although some of the control rings seemed a bit pressed up toward the body, similar to a v.2 35/14 Lux on an M8/RD1s body.
I mean its didnt seem the best ergo-wise, but was nice and compact and light.

But if you are in USA and buy from a store in Candada, your warranty may not be valid.
They are not in stock anywhere in USA from what I have found. Of course I have not spend hours and hours looking.
(the OP asked specifically about USA)

Yes, that was my question.
I did try that Canadian link and yes, I can order it for $1190 right now.
But warranty aside, I just don't understand why in the heck it's nowhere in US and freely sold in Canada?

I saw 3 in stock at Aden Camera downtown Toronto last week. I hate that store, though and would never give them my money again.
Camera Craft in Sault Ste Marie, ON has one on the shelf.

or many legitimate sales. This is a hot camera in the USA.

What's "legitimate" got to do with it?
Artificial scarcity is a perfectly legitimate sales strategy, too. It actually increases the hotness of the thing.

But you can now buy after-market adapter/hood on eBay for $40 - $50. I saw one here on a friends camera and its quite nice.

Meaning they've sold a lot of these... so I'm not so sure there was ever artificial scarcity... scracity yes, but artificial probably not. I think the disasters in Japan had more to do with it than anything.
