I like photo books that are both well-photographed AND well-written. I like the back story and significance of the image--historical, geographical social, etc... If it's a place, tell me about the place; if it's about people, tell me about the people.

I do not necessarily care about how the image was photographed or what exposure or what gear was used, or what kind of hardship the photographer had to endure to capture that image, etc.... All of that should be transparent.

That's just my $0.02.
