So my Bronica S2A arrived...

But as far as I can tell the Aperture blades are not moving. I am rotating the aperture control and cannot seen any blades coming in to narrow the image circle when I look through the lense nor do I see the viewfinder brightness changing.

I am not familiar with the mechanics of the aperture blades in this camera so not sure if this is what I think it is or not.

Anyone have any ideas?

Does the Bronica has automatic aperture? if so, the observed behavior is part of this functionality. The idea is to inspect the image with fully opened aperture all the time and only close it down to the preselected value once the picture is actually taken. There should be a lever to simulate this pre-shutter activity.

Your E1's finder shouldn't dim as you stop down. That camera is a modern Digital SLR, they have automatic aperture too. It should stop down as the mirror is going up so it will be stopped down only when the exposure is made.

I guess I should have clarified that this is when using older AIS or Zeiss lenses with converters.

Strange that you've never encounter automatic diaphragm before and you have a OM2 😛
