So show me a REALLY DISTINCTIVE 28mm M/LTM

As sort of a parallel to Keith's post, I'm curious if anyone can suggest a really distinctive-looking 28mm lens in M or LTM--it doesn't have to be fast, it just has to have a "signature" look. It's the missing focal length in my current rig (CV 21/4, Canon 35/1.8, CV 50/2, Jupiter-9) and I'm window shopping. Post pics!
 
Damn ... the only 28mm I have these days is my 28mm Zuiko for my OM's. I'm no use to you at all but I'll be fascinated to see what we come up with in this thread as I will probably get another 28mm at some stage myself.

Since getting an R4A I have felt the lack of this focal length and the new Ultron is very interesting! :p
 
gary winogrand's main lens for a long time was the canon 28/2.8 ltm. later on, he's said to have used early versions of the 28mm elmarit.
 
CV 28/1.9 distinctive?...I don't know.

it's contrasty but I feel it's more the BW400CN film than the lens.

I have three 28mm LTM/M lenses:

1. Minolta Rokkor 28mm/2.8M: An excellent lens of Leica quality. Many such lenses display "white spots" that might become a problem one day. Miine is prestine.

2. Canon 28mm/3.5: Tiny and sharp. I love it. In my trip overseas a few months ago I used this lens a lot for street photography. It is very vintage looking and cool.

3. Kobalux 28mm/3.5: This lens gives excellent performance. It is special.

As usual, your images are great. I have the CV 28 1.9, but for some reason my images never seem to compare! ;) This particular shot is one of my favorites, thanks for sharing it!
 
The current Elmarit 28/2.8 ASPH: sharp wide open, but with ugly bokeh - look at the rim of the rooftops:

"Distinctive", as used here, can mean different things to different people.

I can't recall ever having a bad ("non-distinctive?" 28 from anyone (mostly SLR-based: Canon FD, Nikon, Minolta AF and Pentax K). I like my current 28 M-Hexanon "lots." It's not so much "distinctive" as it is simply a really well-designed, solidly-built optic with no odd performance tics, and whose "signature" matches my 50 and 90 M-Hex lenses, which for me is a bigger deal.

Having only one stand-out piece of glass in my possession won't do it for me. Put another way, Derek Jeter is a hell of a player, but he can't get the Yankees to postseason play all by his lonesome. (Yeah, as a Mets fan, I just had to bring that up, right?)

Yeah, well I'd love to have five nice 28's! But you know...baby steps...

I wouldn't call that Elmarit bokeh ugly exactly, but it's definitely distinctive...
 
for an edge, maybe think about the zm 25/2.5 - i know it's not a 28 but it's as easy to use as a 28 and does offer a slightly wider, edgier look.

Do you find that you can use it without an external viewfinder on, say, an m6? I am in the market for a 28, and I would consider a 25, but I am not so much into the external viewfinder thing.

while i have the 25 finder i do use the lens often on my zeiss ikon without it. i just use the whole finder field.
don't know about the m6 though.
