Am I missing something here?

The camera sold for the equivalent of $1,000 USD. Although I would never have bid on something with so little description and poor photos, this is a very reasonable price to pay for a 2.8F.

I was tracking prices for a time last year as I was thinking of selling mine and saw them go on ebay at anywhere from around $1,100 all the way up to $1,800 (and they were not white face models).
