Couple of shots from a roll I scanned today. These had me panicking until I remembered which lens I shot them with: my "soft-focus" Canon 50/1.2!

I must pull out that rear element and send it off the Arax to polish out the etched surface damage the fungus left behind! In the meantime, it might make a good porrait lens, no?

Yes Chris, it would make a very nice portrait lens. Were these pictures taken wide open?

In my experience, even minor marks on the rear element of a lens will have a visible impact on the pictures, while a lens with a badly scratched front element will deliver a reasonably sharp picture.

My I have the name and a way to contact that person or company that can polish etching damage out of a lens ? Thank you

Oh man I'd love to try that as a portrait lens. Really nice diffused light. You want to rid yourself of that effect, and I'm trying to emulate it!! 😀
