Hi all

I've just picked up a very nice black GX and I'm enjoying using it very much, although I'd prefer it if I didn't have to press the shutter release in quite so far. Has anyone had any luck with any of the soft release buttons on the market? Those sold at rapidwinder.com look nice, although it states on the site that the larger model doesn't work on Yashicas, though he doesn't specify which models. Can I infer from this that the mini will work on my GX?

Thanks in advance!

Hi
Unfortunately the thread on the GX is to big,but a LITTLE glue does
the trick.

The only soft release that works on my GX is the concave one sold by Fedka. TomA's and Match Technicals are too small on the threaded part.

I've never experienced that the GX shutter release is too long, but that's just me.

@ Cpitch, your black Yashica armada is fantastic!

Thanks for the intel guys, I think I'll try Tom's mini with a dab of glue. Fedka postage to Australia is stupidly expensive, so might as well go with the better quality equipment.

On another note, I found an eBay store selling rigid metal lens shades that fit the GS (and presumably its sibling models) perfectly. They screw into the 55mm filter thread rather than slip on, but at AU$9.99 they're a bargain. And free shipping! I've ordered a 52mm for the GX as well, I can live with switching out the hood for a filter from time to time.
Check them out here
