I have an idea for a shoot and I want a soft dream low contrast look. I'll probably use hp5+ pulled to about 200 but is there a developer you can recommend. I can probably get my hands on almost anything or even make it myself. But something low accutance and low contrast would be great.

Thanks,
Chris

you have to make it, but it is very simple:

Water, 125F/52C750 ml
Metol7.5 g
Sodium Sulfite (anhydrous)100 g
Water to make1L

.

get a soft focus filter. B+W do them. As for developer, stock Perceptol will give extremely fine grain which removes any harshness and a slightly soft result. (note perceptol is very similar to microdol-X but you can't get the latter any more)

B+W filter catalogue

If you are wet printing on n enlarger, you can put a sheet of glass smeared with vaseline under the lens to soften up your image and/or a piece of stocking stretched over the enlarger lens.
