Just bought a m8. It came with capture one LE 3.77 software. But this doesn't install on my mac with osx 10.6

What software do you use for the raw files? Are there some programs with have nice plug ins for the m8 files?

I do have photoshop, but maybe threre is some program with better results?

You can download Capture One 4 from the phaseone website. This will work on your current Mac OS. You can use it with your license code from the bundled Capture One LE. (I hope version 4 is still available for download after they offer version 5 now. As far as i know your license code will not work with capture one 5).

You have to try it for yourself. Some say Capture one offers the best results but there are many happy users of Lightroom, Aperture, Adobe Camera Raw, Photoshop (does it use Camera Raw?) etc.

Robert,

the C1 Software Archive for advanced computers is located here:
http://xchange.phaseone.com/Content/Downloads/Software Archive 3/COArchiveMac.aspx

Your license code will do for C1 4.x in principal. I hope the software doesn't check the existence of a 3.x version, before it allows upgrading. The customer service of C1 is quite OK though. If you have your correct license, it will eventually fly.

I use PS CS3 with good results, but always select the "Camera Profile" instead of the ACR default in the Camera Raw options. If find, this gives betters color, reds in particular. Other than that, Lightroom is worth a try. For what it's worth, I'd rather spend my money on the new version of LR than the C1 non-pro edition. It also comes with an embedded version of Camera Raw.

If you enjoy Black and White, Silver Efex is worth a closer look. It works as a plugin for PS (certainly from CS3 on, maybe with older versions too) and Lightroom. You can even run it stand-alone, when dragging the image on the app icon. It will then save to the very image file, so make sure you know what version you edit ...

Cheers
Ivo
